Salt & Stone

A forty-cover restaurant in a restored Portuguese house, kept as raw as the licence allowed.

Restaurant interior with exposed stone walls and warm pendant lighting

About this project

Most of the work was subtraction. Four layers of paint came off the laterite, the false ceiling went, and the original roof structure came back into the room.

New work is unapologetically new: a blackened steel bar, terracotta floor tiles laid loose-jointed, and lighting low enough that the walls do the talking after dark.
